The word "TREND" relates to cutting-edge style, fashion or taste and indicates the prevailing direction in which change is headed. Trend is also the name of an Italian-based international group at the forefront of surface design. Since it’s founding in 2000, the Trend Group has earned a reputation as a forerunner in material design and composition, new product development and sustainable techniques, in glass mosaic and agglomerate surfaces. As one of the world’s leading producers of coloured glass tiles, Venetian enamel, gold leaf tesserae and agglomerate slab, the Trend Group has demonstrated a unique ability to synthesise the essential principles of Italian tradition, with a dynamic creativity attuned to today’s interior designers, architects and artists.

The Group has embraced this challenge globally, fusing the nineteenth century alchemy of its Angelo Orsoni furnace in Venice, with the twenty-first century innovations of its state-of-the-art agglomerate manufacturing plant in Sebring, Florida. With production and assembly facilities on four continents and operations in more than fifty countries, Trend is currently distributing over 1.5 million square meters of glass mosaic tile and a million square metres of agglomerate each year.

The Trend Group has worked hard to ensure that the organisation’s commercial approach is shaped by a deep commitment to cultural vibrancy and environmental concerns. On the one hand, Trend actively supports the contemporary art world and funds the biannual Orsoni Prize for International Mosaic Art. On the other, the Group moved early and aggressively to reduce the ecological impact of its processes and products. As a result, production is now designed to consume fewer raw materials and energy resources, to recycle otherwise wasted materials, and to increase the natural durability of its products.

Sustainability

Long before it became fashionable, the Trend Group declared a commitment to implementing real-world processes that protect and preserve the planet’s resources. Key to the Group’s direction was the belief that great style and beauty did not have to be sacrificed in the pursuit of corporate responsibility.  Products are designed specifically to consume fewer raw materials and to have extended durability. Trend’s innovative engineered surfaces require 60% less raw material and incorporate both geologic waste and recycled glass that would otherwise be in the landfill.  The Group’s development of new product lines set an industry benchmark for the use of post-consumer recycled content in agglomerate and glass tile products, reaching levels as high as 78%.

The Group’s manufacturing facilities were designed with sophisticated water recycling systems that significantly reduce water consumption and the proliferation of pollutants. The consumption and cost of packaging materials has been reduced through the use of recycled or reusable packaging, and the overall waste produced at the Sebring, Florida, plant has been cut by over 22%. The Group collaborates with the world’s leading environmental organizations, architects and designers to promote sustainable building practice, and Trend’s green product lines contribute measurably to LEED ratings based on credits for Material and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation and Design.

Trend Group’s Eco-Philosophy is a fundamentally ethical approach to business, based on the company’s consciousness of its place in the natural order.  Trend chooses to walk with the world.

ARTISTIC MOSAIC

The new Artistic Mosaic Collection offers a series of amazing works of art in which colour, shape and material merge harmoniously and create a unique ambience. This charming collection features decorative motifs that draw inspiration from nature, reinterpreted with sharp lines and clean geometry. They are designed to be combined together in a complete decorative package, consisting of mosaic tiles for decorating the walls and agglomerates for covering floors.
Made using up to 59% post-consumer recycled glass.

Benefits: The small tile size has allowed the creation of very complex patterns and designs, making them even more realistic.
Curves and fluid strokes all have a soft and well-defined effect, eliminating the pixelated look and delivering a more pleasing final result.

Applications: As with all other mosaics and agglomerates, the Best Collection can be laid on the floor and walls, indoors and outdoors, even in contact with water, in showers or swimming pools.

BORDER METROPOLIS

This designer tile collection uses hand cut Karma glass, assembled in a repetitive, irregular module. The module is characterized by incorporating different sized tiles of the same or contrasting shades or even different tones. Made using up to 75% post-consumer recycled glass.

Benefits: This tile collection is characterized by a transparent material, cut by hand, which creates a luminous surface that enriches internal and external environments.
The unmistakable pattern of Metropolis mosaic, which alternates smooth and corrugated tesserae to create chrome and iridescent textures, is enhanced by new designer shades.

Applications: As an interpretation of Karma glass, Metropolis is predominantly a wall covering material, that can be used indoors and outdoors.
As an artisan product, it has some slight irregularities and must be laid with care and should be grouted with a full flight.
In wet areas, such as showers, baths and swimming pools, epoxy adhesive and grout are recommended.

FEEL

Employing cutting edge technology, FEEL is created from recycled glass, using up to 78% post-consumer material. Made using up to 78% post-consumer recycled glass.

Benefits: The semi-transparent surface of the tesserae has a silky texture, which enhances the brightness and differentiates it from the Vitreo collection.
Feel is tested to resist chemicals, thermal shock, water and freezing, always maintaining its technical characteristics.

Application: Feel mosaics can be laid on the floor or vertically on interior and exterior surfaces. Tiles can be used in contact with water, for applications such as shower trays or swimming pools. Due to the size of the tesserae (2 x 2 cm) and the frequency of joints (1 mm), the mosaic surface is inherently slip-resistant.

The waterproof characteristics of this mosaic does not preclude waterproofing of the foundation substrate for swimming pools and similar applications.

KARMA

This drawn glass, transparent mosaic is obtained by processing a glass plate, which is then hand cut to size by artisans. After forming, the plates are subjected to an annealing process, with a silver metallic finish applied to the reverse, for distinctive radiant reflections. The silver sheet does not peel over time and is compatible with regular adhesives. Given the level of craftsmanship, Karma colours may have slight shade differences. Made using up to 75% post-consumer recycled glass.

Benefits: KARMA was inspired by the windows of Gothic cathedrals, recreating the elegant colours and an illuminating effect of remarkable intensity.
The unevenness of colour is a peculiarity of the product, which helps to create a pleasantly irregular and flamed finished effect.
Karma is prized for its uniqueness and the special 2 x 4 cm format allows compositions with joints either aligned or staggered.

Applications: KARMA is used predominantly as a wall coating material, although it can be laid on floors in the 2 x 2 cm format, for low/medium traffic applications.
Since this is a handmade product, Karma has some natural undulations, so it must be laid with the joints well filled. These tesserae are also suitable for use as inserts on water-cut agglomerates.
In wet areas, such as showers, baths or swimming pools, epoxy plaster and glue are recommended.
